The 2005 Hats for Hope auction was held on April 13 at The Olmsted on the Masonic Homes campus. Over 300 people enjoyed the wonderful entertainment, fabulous hors d'oeuvres and drinks, and of course - incredible hat shopping. The event made over $15,000 for the American Cancer Society to aid in the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to all the donors, volunteers, and attendees who made the 2005 event a great success.

This hat named "Honor" was from Angie Schultz at Attitudes by Angie. "Honor" is a lilac hat with a large steel lavender flower, small purple and lavender velvet flowers with black feathers, and a decorative band. Angie's favorite saying is, "It's all in the attitude you have"; hence, the name of her company.

Attitudes by Angie hats are all one-of-a-kind masterpieces created, designed and embellished exclusively by Angie. Each hat is given an inspirational name representing the spirit of her design. "I use my hats as a vehicle to get my message out to women about becoming empowered and shining their light for the world to see." "Swirls of Hope" was donated by Polly Singer Eardley from All You Need Is Love, Hats and Veils. This hat was made from hand-dyed sinamy which was then twisted into shape. The design process takes much time because each hat is hand-sculpted. Each hat is unique and one-of-a-kind, just like each cancer survivor. To get the exact shape for the hat, Polly worked with the fabric and allowed it to go in the direction it wanted to go. A hat similar to this one was first runner-up in a national hat competition in New York in 2004.

To Polly, hope is an important emotion. Without hope, we have nothing. Hope and faith help us to achieve the impossible. Polly chooses this whimsical hat to donate because we all need brightly colored hope to achieve our dreams. This hat is very light in weight but makes a powerful statement. Hope weighs nothing but is everything to a cancer patient. Visit www.hatsandveils.net or call 859-533-1426 to express your appreciation for this wonderful donation.
